Troubleshooting

Fix a battle log DeckSequence doesn't recognize

Updated

When you save a match with "That didn't look like a PTCG Live battle log, so there's no replay," the match itself still saved. Only the replay is missing, because DeckSequence couldn't read what was in the Battle Log field.

What a battle log looks like

A PTCG Live battle log has three parts, in this order:

  1. A first line that says Setup.
  2. The opening for both players: the coin flip, who went first, opening hands and mulligans.
  3. A line for each turn, like Ash's Turn, followed by what was played that turn.

DeckSequence needs all three. It reads the two player names from the Setup section, so a log that starts partway through the match can't be read.

Common mix-ups

  • A deck list instead of the log. Deck exports and battle logs both come from PTCG Live, but a deck list has no Setup or turns. Paste deck lists into a deck, not a match.
  • Part of the log. Copying from the middle of the log leaves out Setup. Copy the whole log.
  • Something else on the clipboard. If the copy didn't go through, you paste whatever was copied before.

How to fix it

  1. Copy the battle log from PTCG Live again.
  1. Check that the copy starts with Setup.
  2. Open the match in DeckSequence, choose Edit, and paste the new copy in place of the old one.
  3. Save. The replay and card usage build from the log.

If the log reads but the replay is empty, the log was copied with card IDs hidden. Turn on card IDs in PTCG Live and copy it again.
